Visit your home away from home…

Nestled between the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Allegheny Mountains, and near the Peeks of Otter and Natural Bridge sits Legacy Farm, 280 acres of farmland, woods, ponds, and creeks. Legacy Farm is located seven minutes from downtown historic Lexington and its two major institutions, Washington & Lee University and Virginia Military Institute.

The Farm House

The Farm House is used as a retreat for families, small companies and wedding parties. With its unique layout, this old farmhouse has five guestrooms, five baths and is 4,052 square feet. Included in this unit, there are three “breakout”/family rooms and a large catering-capable kitchen.

Kate’s Cottage

“Kate’s Cottage,” named after the former owner, is situated at the property’s entrance and was recently remodeled. This 1,330 square foot dwelling with two bedrooms, two full baths, and a stunning outdoor patio with amazing views to east of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

History

A little history lesson here. Historic Route II traversed the property at one point with the building shown here as shelter for the travelers and their horses. The ruins of the first Elliotts Hill Church are to the west in the woods along the historic route, with the steps still intact. The Farm House was built in 1918 and has been remodeled/expanded several times, giving it a historical touch with all the modern components of home.

The Grounds

With over 280 acres of sprawling landscape, Legacy Farm allows visitors to envision and experience what rustic living can be like in the mountains. This retreat has trails, bluffs, wildlife, and water features all around the place, relaxing you the moment you park your car. Once used as a glider-port - yes, glider-port - you can actually still see the old runway & imagine the beauty those gliders must have enjoyed seeing.
